What is XHTML?

Extensive Hypertext Markup Language or XHTML aims to replace HTML.  XHTML is similar to HTML but is considered to be cleaner and more concise than HTML. XHTML is also known as HTML but acts as an XML(Extensible Markup Language) application. Moreover, all web servers support it. XHTML consists of all the elements in HTML combined with the syntax of XML.

What are the benefits of using XHTML?
Due to HTML’s popularity and ease in code development, a lot of pages in the web are produced using bad HTML. Meaning, these pages do not adhere to the standard specification of the W3C/ World Wide Web Consortium, a consortium responsible for standardizing HTML and XHTML.

XML is a markup language where every detail has to be marked up correctly and result to a well-formulated page. In the status quo, the Web consists of different browser technologies, some browsers run Internet on computers, while others run internet on mobile phones and hand held’s palm tops. Where in, some of such do not interpret a “bad” markup language. Thus, combining 2 powerful technologies like HTML and XML is the way to go.
